Ole Kirk x That Girl
85% SOLD
Share Price Purchase per 10%: $8765.00 (inclusive)
The above purchase price includes all expenses until May 2025
Sex: Filly
Colour: Brown / Bay
On type one of our top picks of the catalogue was the Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) x That Girl (Sizzling) Filly lot 327. We believed she would be too rich for our budget. She has a pedigree with her Mother winning twice at 2 and includes the Champion speed horse, Ortensia. With Ole Kirk having an AU$55k service fee and being an eye-catching, forward type of filly to purchase her for under the service fee, and a lot less than her true value, was satisfying. When we arrived at the stable to get a photo with her, the Amarina Farm Manager immediately commented how we “got an absolute bargain”. She was later in the sale which probably was an advantage to us and the breeder/owner based in China was in debt to the Farm. She was a “must-sell”, this fortuitous set of circumstances allowed for this purchase. She is a pin hook option for future sales, however, the immediate plan is to race her. She was vetted by Dr Chris Lawler on the day of purchase and was evaluated as low-risk.

Bivouac x Shadow Watch
85% SOLD
Share Price Purchase per 10%: $5,625.00 (inclusive)
The above purchase price includes all expenses until May 2025
Sex: Colt
Colour: Brown / Bay
Paul, Russell and Tim watched Lot 280 Bivouac (Exceed & Excel) x Shadow Watch (So You Think) get passed in. He was a well-balanced colt we believed would be out of our price range when you consider first season sire Bivouac’s service fee is AU$55,000 and the Mare, Shadow Watch was an AU$330,000 broodmare purchase. He has quite a pedigree peppered with well-bred, expensive performers going back to Criterion and Comin’ Through. On further inquiry, we discovered the owner was quitting stock and the Colt was a “must-sell”. BDRC offered an immediate AU$15,000 buy on the spot and to our surprise the deal was done. We will look to race this Colt in time but will review sales options alongside his development and keep a close eye on the pedigree updates and the Stallion's early performers. Champion sprinter Bivouac won the ATC Kindergarten Stakes as a 2YO.
The colt was vetted by Dr Chris Lawler on the day of purchase and was evaluated as low-risk.

All Too Hard x Fille Champagne
50% SOLD
Share Price Purchase per 10%: $7,000.00 + gst
Expenses per 10% Share: $100.00 + gst per week (approximate)
Sex: Filly
Colour: Chestnut
This yearling was bred by BDRC owner Tim Barry and friend Tim Gillespie. They are retaining a major ownership stake in this lovely filly, with attitude.
The All Too Hard x Fille Champagne (Sebring) filly has a very similar pedigree profile to that of 2024, G1 Stradbroke winner Steffi Magnetica (All Too Hard) with Vain prominent on both sides. The All Too Hard and More Than Ready cross (Sebring’s Sire) includes multiple G1 winners Forbidden Love & Wellington. She was a late October foal and has all in front of her. She looks very much like her Dad, Sebring, a deep chestnut with the white sock. For inspection please contact BDRC.
The Amazing Stakes Incentives
BDRC on completion of the offer will begin establishing the team of horses targeting many of the BIG million and multimillion-dollar races on offer in NZ and Australia. The stakes money in both NZ and Australia is rising to eye-watering levels and BDRC will target these ‘big dances’ where possible. To put that in perspective there are close to 100, AU$1,000,000 plus races in Australia, with the Everest carrying a $20,000,000 prize pool. Many of these races are sale-related giving buyers even more opportunity for return. For example, Horses purchased at Magic Millions are eligible for a $14.25 million raceday in 2024 and a $20 million raceday in 2025. Horses have these opportunities for the duration of their careers (races programmed for 2YOs, 3YO’s & Up from 900m-2200m). Inglis, the other major horse trader in Australia engages in similar stake incentive activity. In addition, the return on investment within New Zealand has made great inroads in the past year and is spearheaded by Karaka Million Day. New Zealand Bloodstock and the industry offer three races for $1,000,000 or more and is followed by a fantastic week of selling yearlings. BDRC hopes to feature prominently in both areas in the years to come. In addition, NZTR has added the $4 million Kiwi that has $1 million in bonus lead-up races and a Maiden series of $1 million across 40 races. This is set to continue for many years.
When horses are purchased in Australia, BDRC will evaluate entering horses in NZB Sales, including digital, to buy back. This allows the horse to qualify for all the bonus races, including Karaka Millions and Maiden Scheme.
